This blog will present my views about healthful living, health information that I find interesting, and will document my journey to becoming more healthy. Healthy encompasses the physical, mental, and spiritual components of the whole person. I will spotlight healthy foods and lifestyles, unhealthy foods, exercise health, mental health, and whatever else makes me smile (like shoes!).
Please join me on my journey, we can learn from each other. I am not an expert on health, I’m just trying to find my way. I am a mother of four beautiful children (I use that term loosely because three are adults) and a grandmother of twins (The Yummykins). I have been effortlessly thin most of my life, but not necessarily healthy.
I grew up eating fried chicken, chitterlings, cornbread, gravy laden everything, ham hocks, and drinking Kool-Aid. My kids were introduced to the same “great foods” although the chitterlings were never a hit with them 🙂
I took my daughters and my mother to Las Vegas for Spring Break in March 2011. The resulting pictures made it painfully obvious to me that I was no longer that effortlessly thin person that I have always been. I cringed at the unrecognizable person in the photos staring back at me.
I am not an expert on health. I am still learning to eat right, to exercise right, to appreciate my accomplishments, to love myself, and to find the motivation to do it all. This blog is solely to share my journey. I will continue my journey to health even though my son and daughter-in-law call me “too skinny” because I feel better than I have in more than twenty years.
My journey to health began March 2011 and it continues today….
